Viktor Galanov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus: The platform of the International Union is fundamental for communication not only between state bodies of different countries, but specifically for the formation of a unified norm-setting practice in the field of geology. For most countries, the field of geology is fundamental for the development of the real sector of the economy, making a significant part of the formation of GDP. Common approaches and a single map are very important for us, because the geological knowledge of one state can become the basis for continuing relevant work on the territory and in the interests of another state.
For Belarus, such a meeting is an opportunity not only to share its own experience, but also to learn from the experience of its neighbors. The programme of the session will continue today. The delegates also visited industrial sites and important historical and cultural places of Belarus.
