On October 22, during quarantine phytosanitary control, Rosselkhoznadzor employees checked a batch of grenades from Turkey weighing 19.9 tons. The Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata (Wied.)) is a quarantine object that poses a serious threat to agriculture.
The danger of the find was confirmed by experts: the conclusion about the quarantine phytosanitary state of the products was issued by specialists of the Southern branch of FGBI “ARRIAH”.
By law, an infected consignment could not be put on sale without processing. Therefore, the cargo was sent for mandatory disinfection. After the procedures were successfully completed, repeated laboratory studies were conducted - they showed that quarantine objects no longer exist. Only after that, the goods were allowed to sell freely on the territory of Russia, the press service of the JMU Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
