In Sochi for the year bears 15 showed aggression to people

In Sochi, the problem of brown bears entering settlements remains. In 2025, 540 such cases were reported, and in 15 episodes the animals showed aggression. In 2026, another 40 encounters with predators were officially recorded.

Specialists of the Sochi National Park attribute the appearance of wild animals near residential areas, including the availability of food waste.

Open dumpsters, food residues and fallen fruit attract bears. Having found a constant source of food, animals can return to the same place.

To increase the awareness of residents at the resort, an educational project “Brown bear is our neighbor” is being implemented. In the autumn, the staff of the national park held eight thematic lectures, attended by about 600 people. The final meeting took place in “Dandraria”.

The problem becomes especially urgent in autumn, when bears actively accumulate fat reserves before wintering.

Residents are advised not to leave food waste in the public domain, not to approach wild animals and not to try to feed them.
