The Duma of Veliky Novgorod discussed new rules of improvement

On October 23, deputies of the Duma of Veliky Novgorod made changes to the rules for the improvement of urban areas. The previous document, adopted in 2008, needed significant revision, the press service of the city parliament reported.

The updated norms bring city acts in accordance with federal laws, eliminate provisions that duplicate other legal acts, and also take into account modern realities: personal mobility tools that appeared on the streets of the regional center, advertising structures and architectural illumination.

The deputies also specified the requirements for the maintenance of children's and sports grounds, the placement of non-stationary outlets, the availability of public areas for people with limited mobility. The new rules will come into force on March 1, 2027.

The project went through a process of public discussion, but the work does not end there. Duma Speaker Vasily Yan proposed to create a working group, which will include deputies, officials, social activists and active residents. This team will monitor how the rules work in practice and make prompt adjustments if necessary.
