Today marks the 84th anniversary of the museum-estate of Alexander Suvorov in the village of Konchansko-Suvorovskoye, reminded the press service of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve.
The idea to open the Suvorov Museum near Borovichi appeared in pre-war times. Local residents and employees of Leningrad museums collected things related to Suvorov’s life and his time. The exposition in Konchansky opened on October 25, 1942, when Novgorod was still under occupation, and Leningrad was in the ring of the blockade. But the memory of the great commander supported the people. From 1942 to 1945, the museum was visited by more than twenty thousand people.
The opening of the museum was attended by soldiers and officers of the Volkhov Front, residents of Borovichi and nearby villages. Employees of junior lieutenant courses in Borovichi helped prepare the museum for opening, organize its work and conduct the first excursions.
After the restoration, carried out in 2024-2025, Suvorov's house was returned to its historical appearance - the same as it was during the life of the commander. And this year during the action “Garden of memory” on the territory of the estate planted five young oaks.
