In the Borovichi district implemented 22 improvement projects for 16 million
Participation in initiative budgeting opens up excellent opportunities for development for the Borovichi municipal district

Participation in initiative budgeting opens up excellent opportunities for development for the Borovichi municipal district. Every year, public territories are actively included in regional programs, such as support for local initiatives, “Road to Home”, “Our Choice”, “People’s Budget” and projects for the development of territorial public self-government. Thanks to this approach, residents themselves directly influence the solution of important local issues: from creating cozy public spaces to repairing roads in the most remote villages, said the head of the Borovichi municipal district Andrey Gerasimov.
This year alone, initiatives were implemented in the territories of eight functional departments and in the city of Borovichi. In total, 22 projects were implemented with a total cost of more than 16 million rubles. Success in the competitive selections allowed to attract 11.6 million rubles from the regional budget, another 3.7 million added the district budget, and 981 thousand rubles invested by residents and local businesses. This activity proves that the mechanism works well and people really need it.
First, it significantly increases trust in the authorities: when people choose where to send funds, they feel real ownership and responsibility for their yard or street. Secondly, money is spent as efficiently as possible, because projects are born from the real needs of residents, and therefore fall exactly into the goal. And thirdly, this is a great way to join forces, receiving support not only from the region, but also from enterprises.
The work is not stopping: there are already active preparations for participation in programs for 2027. Residents hold meetings and choose the most important initiatives. Such meetings were successfully held in the Sushan, Zhelezkovsky, Egol, Travkovsky, Sushilov and Peredsky administrations.
It is noteworthy that part of the city territory of Borovichi will take part in this process for the first time: a project on the improvement of the preschool unit of the seventh school was put forward there. Territorial public self-governments both in villages and in the city are actively discussing their ideas and future applications.
In fact, proactive budgeting has long gone beyond simply allocating finance. It is a living tool for the development of local self-government.
“By participating in such projects, we get not only new infrastructure facilities, but also a cohesive, engaged community, ready to build a comfortable and modern environment for life together,” Andrey Gerasimov wrote on his VKontakte page.
