Ebola patient in Nigeria did not visit DR Congo, escalating concern over spread of virus

An Ebola patient in Nigeria is a Swiss woman who has not travelled to the epicentre of the current outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo and is believed to have contracted the virus while travelling with her husband in Uganda, the Swiss foreign ministry has said.

The new information contradicts accounts from Uganda, which previously said the woman had travelled to eastern DR Congo, and will raise concerns about the ability of authorities to contain the outbreak, which is already the most geographically widespread in history.
