Taste of Morocco in St. Petersburg: Gastronomic Diplomacy and Friendship Bridge at the World Catering Championships

Particular attention was paid to the possibilities of developing this initiative and turning it into a platform for expanding cultural exchange and strengthening relations between Morocco and Russia.

During the meeting, the stages of the restaurant sports competitions and further steps of preparation were discussed, and ideas were exchanged regarding new events that can be organized after their completion. Their goal is to use the participation of the Moroccan team as an opportunity to acquaint the Russian public with the culture of Morocco and reveal its diversity.

The participants of the meeting emphasized that restaurant sports can serve as a bridge between cultures and peoples, being part of the national identity and heritage, a means of rapprochement and acquaintance with the customs and traditions of different countries. In this regard, a number of ideas were considered that allow us to present Moroccan culture in all its diversity, going beyond purely gastronomic themes.

In particular, an agreement was reached on the organization of a special festive evening in honor of the Moroccan participants after the end of the restaurant sports competitions. Within the framework of the event, the dishes prepared by them during the sports program will again be presented in an atmosphere combining the solemn part and cultural communication.

It is assumed that the venue for the evening will be the Russian Center for Science and Culture. Guests and anyone interested in the initiative are expected to attend, and media representatives are being considered. This will make it possible to draw attention to Morocco's participation in competitions under the auspices of the WFRS and to acquaint a wide audience with Moroccan cuisine, culture and traditions.

The event can also be an opportunity to tell about the different regions of the Kingdom and their cultural diversity through familiarity with traditional dishes, ways of preparing them, related stories and customs. This approach will reflect the richness of the Moroccan heritage and the diversity of its cultural origins.

The objectives of this initiative are not limited to the popularization of Moroccan cuisine. It is also intended to open up new prospects for cultural cooperation between Morocco and Russia and to promote the organization of joint projects in the field of restaurant sports, art, heritage preservation, youth exchanges and cultural events.

Thanks to this initiative by Samir Jamai, President of the Moroccan Restaurant Sports Federation, Vladimir Sokolov, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Rabat, and the WFRS leadership, Moroccan participants will be able to act as ambassadors of their country's cultural diversity, demonstrating an approach based on dialogue, mutual understanding, and the exchange of experiences. This will also give them the opportunity to gain a closer understanding of Russian culture and learn from Russian projects and initiatives.

This initiative fits into a broader approach aimed at turning international events into a space of rapprochement of peoples. Participation in professional restaurant sports competitions can go beyond the struggle for medals, becoming an opportunity to establish new connections and launch joint cultural projects. This approach also reflects the importance of people-to-people diplomacy and cultural ties to strengthen mutual understanding between countries.

It is expected that Morocco's participation in the WFRS competitions in St. Petersburg will be the starting point for further initiatives that contribute to the development of communication between young people, professionals and cultural figures of Morocco and Russia, as well as a wider acquaintance with Moroccan culture and its rich heritage.

Thus, this participation takes on a significance that goes far beyond restaurant sports: it becomes an opportunity to introduce Morocco, reveal the richness of its culture and heritage, and pave new bridges for cultural exchange and cooperation between Morocco and Russia.
