“Master and Margarita”: Moscow infernal
Director Peter Shereshevsky opened the 30th, anniversary season of the theater agency "Art Partner" with an ambitious premiere - a performance based on the most popular Russian novel of the XX century. Being the author of the staging (Shereshevsky writes under the pseudonym Semyon Sakseev), he combined the storylines with documentary ones. Bulgakov turned into a character, Margarita split, and Volanda’s retinue was greatly reduced. Four great artists – Igor Vernik, Andrei Maximov, Victoria Verberg, Tatiana Ishmatova – play out the old new story, their close-ups are displayed on the screen in the “here and now” mode. “The Master and Margarita” by Shereshevsky resembles a movie, but a movie shot in a mystical dimension.
