French actress of Russian origin Marina Vladi died on September 24 at the age of 88. The cause of her death was a long illness, as reported by TASS Nikita Vysotsky, the son of the artist Vladimir Vysotsky.
“She was sick. She lived more than 88 years – a huge life, did a lot, including for us, for everyone who cares about Vysotsky. We must remember her, be grateful to her, said Nikita Vysotsky.
Marina Vladi, whose real name is Ekaterina-Marina Polyakova-Baydarova, was born on May 10, 1938 in the French commune of Clichy-la-Garenne in a family of Russian immigrants. Her father was an opera singer and her mother a ballerina.
Vladi began her film career as a child, playing her first role at the age of 10 in Jean Guerai’s film Summer Thunderstorm. Widely known Vladi brought the film by Andre Michel “Witch”, which was released in 1956. During her career, she starred in more than 100 films, among which “The Queen of Bees”, for which she was awarded the Cannes Film Festival prize for Best Actress in 1963.
Marina Vladi is the last official wife of Vladimir Vysotsky. She has been married to him since 1970.
