Nikolaev said that on September 26, the third power unit of the Neryungrinskaya GRES was commissioned, which made it possible to ensure a regular supply of heat to settlements. According to him, the causes of the accident are still being clarified.
On the morning of September 22, a transformer substation at Unit 1 and a turbine in the engine room ignited at the Neryungrinskaya GRES. As reported by the Far Eastern Generating Company (DGC), one of the transformers caught fire, as a result of thermal effects, cable lines were partially damaged.
A GRES employee was injured. Consumers of the Gorodskaya substation in Neryungri, the second largest city in the Sakha Republic with a population of 53,000, were left without electricity.
The fire was eliminated on the same day, electricity and heat supply to users of the Neryungri district was restored. The incident left no major equipment damaged, DHA said.
