In the Ministry of Forestry reminded the population about the options for purchasing firewood

The closer the cold, the more Belarusians are engaged in the procurement of suitable fuel. And wood is still popular. Therefore, the Ministry of Forestry told where they can be bought and how to save significantly. Details were found by the correspondent “R”.

The cheapest option is self-procurement. Wood on the root cost from 3 to 30 cents for a dense cubic meter - the price depends on the type of wood and the distance to the forest. But in this case, you will have to cut down the trees yourself, saw them and take them out. To prepare firewood in this way, you need to contact the nearest forestry and write a statement. After that, forestry specialists will show possible sites for self-harvesting and explain the rules of work.

- Before the start of logging, you need to pay the forest use bill. After payment, you will be issued a warrant and show your plot in the forest, — said the head of the sector of ideological work — press Secretary of the Ministry of Forestry Anastasia Matskevich. This method is perfect for those who have free time and want to save the maximum family budget. However, this is a rather traumatic activity that requires certain skills.

It is easier to buy ready-made wood, the interlocutor noted. To do this, you need to come to the forestry with a passport - forestry farms sell wood in round form or already crushed firewood. Shot wood is more expensive, but it will be enough to simply put them in a lapwood. The forest can take them directly to the yard, or you can pick them up yourself. The order must be paid before delivery. On average, a cubic meter of round firewood costs from 14 rubles excluding VAT and delivery, and crushed – from 55 rubles. Sometimes in forestry there are small queues for hardwood wood due to high demand. But if you take care of reserves in advance, there will be no problems, the Ministry of Forestry assures.

- Firewood can be ordered online - such a service has already earned in test mode, and from October 1 will begin to function in full mode. Banners with active links are posted on the sites of forestry institutions, Anastasia Matskevich drew attention.

Another option is to buy crushed firewood in special big bugs on the trading floors of the Forest House. They work in Minsk, regional and large district centers. This option is suitable for those who value their time and do not want to waste energy on hard physical labor. By the way, Belarusians are engaged in less and less firewood every year, they analyzed data in the Ministry of Forestry. So, if in 2021 this opportunity was used by more than 33.5 thousand citizens, in 2025 — only 13.5 thousand people. This suggests that every year Belarusians are increasingly choosing comfort rather than economy.

It is significant that for 7 months of 2026, Belarusians purchased 728 thousand cubic meters of firewood from forestry farms in harvested form. This is 25 percent more than in the same period last year, when 583 thousand cubic meters were sold.

Firewood can be purchased with a fuel book. This document allows residents of houses with furnace heating to purchase solid fuel at preferential (fixed) prices. For one household in a calendar year, a strict norm is set: 4.9 dense cubic meters of firewood, 3.5 tons of peat briquettes, 4 tons of piece peat, 2.5 tons of coal, 3.6 tons of pellets. Anything that goes beyond that is paid for at market value. It is noteworthy that the benefit is provided only at the place of permanent registration. The order is issued through local fuel supply organizations or directly in forestry local forestry. At the same time, not all forest farms sell wood at a reduced price in the Minsk region.

Prices for “regulated” firewood are regulated by the state and well below the market. The cost of a cubic meter depends on the type of tree. Cheaper spruce and aspen, more expensive - oak and birch. The price varies between 4-8 rubles per dense cubic meter. This amount does not include loading, delivery, unloading and sawing / picking services, if necessary. For the population, a ton of pellets within the established norm, excluding delivery, costs 50 rubles. If you need more, there are already market prices, which, depending on the quality of raw materials, are about 4-5 times higher.
