Festival "Autumn Kirmash of Golden Years" gathered elderly people in the boarding house "Vyacha"

The open festival of creativity and arts "Autumn Kirmash of Golden Years" was held in the Minsk city social boarding house "Vyacha" on October 1, the correspondent of the agency "Minsk-Novosti" reports.

On the Day of Elderly Persons, the holiday brought together residents of social boarding houses of the capital and Minsk district.

“Vyacha” became the venue for the festival not by chance. The boarding house is the largest in terms of the number of residents not only in Minsk, but also in the whole country. More than 800 people have found a second home in the institution, said Oleg Kurlovich, director of the social institution. The state pays great attention to those who especially need help, and creates comfortable conditions for people with disabilities and the elderly. Last year, for example, a new modern building with 100 seats was opened. It became the sixth in the structure of the stationary institution.

O. Kurlovich drew attention to the fact that in the boarding house, the wards receive comprehensive care: they undergo medical and social and labor rehabilitation. Moreover, the task of the boarding house is not just to provide square meters, but to create a thoughtful rehabilitation environment, to fill the leisure of the wards with interesting events. The festival “Autumn Kirmash of Golden Years” is a vivid example of this. On the site in front of the main buildings developed master classes on the manufacture of paintings from ribbons, bouquets of dry flowers and autumn leaves, crafts in the technique of walling from wool.

“Working with wool requires patience and diligence, but the wards of the boarding house cope perfectly,” said Marina Papok, an instructor for occupational therapy, head of the Inspiration workshop. I noticed that in the process they lose tension, normalize the emotional background. People of different ages work in the workshop. The oldest student is over 70 years old.

Mm. The folder has been working in the boarding house since 2019. According to her, people with mental characteristics are more open in expressing emotions, and representatives of the older generation give practical life advice.

Valentina Ershova has led a large enterprise for more than a decade, and the last three years she has been living in a boarding house.

There is a lot of free time, so I read and walk in the fresh air. In a word, the resort, jokes V. Ershova. Among the staff are mainly young workers. They help to get dressed and put themselves in order - without them anywhere.

- I am a young specialist, in boarding school only a year, said the instructor of occupational therapy Victoria Buynitskaya. But even in that short time, my outlook has changed. I learned to appreciate the little things, pay more attention to the needs of older people, empathize with those who are nearby.

The participants of the festival - creative teams and studios of stationary institutions of the city - performed with musical and theatrical numbers. On the day when it is customary to say thank you to those who worked for the prosperity of the country, the holiday united friends and gave bright emotions.
