The solemn event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus is hosted by Grodno region. It was held in the palace and park complex "Svyatsk", where parliamentarians of different convocations gathered. Within the framework of the project “Train of Memories”, they comprehended the thirty-year path of the Institute of Territorial Representation and paid tribute to the heroes of Prinemanja, the sb.by correspondent reports.

- We are trying to convey this information, including to our colleagues and possibly to the commissions, so that it is taken into account in the work on legislation, because parliamentarians do not have any questions of their own. We are ready to help people in many situations on the ground, we are ready to discuss many issues. It is especially important that members of the Council of the Republic of different convocations who worked in different years have gathered here. Everyone's experience is interesting and useful to those who work in parliament. The Council of the Republic has developed a very productive form of work. These are visits to the regions, regular communication with voters, answers to their questions.

The Chairman of the Lida District Council of Deputies, Inessa Beloush, stressed that the status of the legislature has grown significantly:
- The intensity of parliamentary work has changed. When I worked in the fifth convocation, we practiced visiting the commission in one district, traveled to village councils, held receptions for citizens, and at the end of this work we discussed issues together. This is an effective form of work, and today there is an active dialogue with people on the ground, and this confirms that our laws are really working and developing. This is a very good, important moment. Today, those who have worked in previous convocations can say with satisfaction that their work continues with dignity and rises to a new, higher level.

Head of the branch of the Development Bank in Grodno Elena Stalbovskaya was first elected senator of the eighth convocation.
- This is my first experience in the Council of the Republic, the interlocutor noted. We have already served almost half of our parliamentary term. People understand that the senator works almost daily, not only during visiting receptions, direct telephone lines. My office is always open, especially for the citizens of the three districts I represent – Grodno, Berestovitsky and Svisloch. At the same time, the palette of appeals is very different, but, as a rule, they concern simple, vital topics with which a person meets every day. There are initiative citizens who often come up with proposals for amending laws and clarifying legislative norms. And in each case, the approach to people’s requests is very thorough, otherwise you cannot do it when you have such high trust.

Chairman of the Grodno Regional Council of Deputies Elena Pasyuta noted the importance of the event:
- For eight convocations from the Grodno region, 51 senators were elected, some of whom were elected twice, and some three times. These are the people who stood at the origins of the birth of our state – sovereign and independent. They made the laws we've all lived by for 30 years. Those laws that have influenced the development of our country in general and the region in particular. And today we can safely say that Belarusians have never lived so richly, happily and calmly as they do now, so it is time to take stock and say thank you to everyone who has done so much for this. Among them are those who are currently working on improving the legislative framework, making decisions that make the development of certain areas and the life of society in general even better. Behind each of these decisions is a person.
Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Yuri Karaev noted that the legislative framework formed over 30 years is constantly improving:
Since the first days of its existence, the Council of the Republic has become a platform where balanced and balanced decisions are taken, the interests of the regions are taken into account. It is important for us to preserve continuity and unity in the face of new challenges and threats. I am confident that the National Assembly will continue to adequately solve the most difficult tasks, protecting the interests of citizens and strengthening Belarus. Special words of gratitude to those who stood at the origins of Belarusian parliamentarism in the difficult 1990s. Their experience, wisdom and dedication serve as an example to all today.

Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova became the main speaker of the large-scale event, stressing that the idea of holding such meetings came not by chance:
- People gathered here who stood at the origins of the formation of our state together with the President, creating the legal foundation of the state. When we took our first steps, our colleagues stood shoulder to shoulder with the Head of State and made very important decisions. Then we had to recreate everything. And they worked very hard, they thought very carefully about the decisions. Therefore, we are deeply grateful to all those people who stood at the origins of parliamentarism in sovereign Belarus. The President very much appreciates the work of the parliamentary corps of our country, understands how important it is today that the legislative power in the country was strong, that legislators understood and lived the problems of people, that they were not torn away from the land and people. The people's power in our country. Only eight members of the Council of the Republic work in the region on a professional basis, and in just 30 years the Council of the Republic had 395 members. And it imposes an equally high responsibility on those who are honored with such a high honor.

At the meeting, the participants recalled their work in different convocations of the Council of the Republic, spoke about parliamentarians who left a significant mark on the Belarusian land. And one of the memorable episodes of the program was the signing of a message to parliamentarians in 2050, which was sealed in a capsule and transferred to the Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum.
