Outstanding youth from the Ulyanovsk region visited the Open Air Aviation and Cosmonautics Museum on September 29, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
Together with the children, the governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexei Russiankh visited the interactive tour.
- I would really like the guys, our best students, excellent students, leaders of the First Movement to feel everything on their own experience. I think it is useful for them to get acquainted with the history of the Republic of Belarus and visit the museums of Minsk. I hope that after this visit the children will return to the Ulyanovsk region a little different. We are being replaced by good and decent youth, said A. Russiankh.

In the Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics, young guests got acquainted with the variety of exhibits, visited the new open airfield platform, boarded several aircraft, looked into their cargo compartments and even managed to sit at the helm.

Many interactive installations allowed the children to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the museum. In the cosmonautics hall, schoolchildren opened a symbolic door, behind which they saw a scene of a rocket launch into space. Then they got acquainted with the presented materials and learned about the history of cosmonautics of the USSR, Belarus and Russia.

- During the historical flight, Yuri Gagarin did have several abnormal situations. In particular, before the start, it was not possible to completely close the hatch of the ship, and during braking and descent there were problems with the orientation system and other unforeseen circumstances. At the same time, all systems continued to work, and the flight was completed successfully, the guide explained.

Then the guys went to the open range, where they were able to consider a variety of aircraft - from the Yak-18, where Yuri Gagarin studied to fly, and the first official board of Belarus Tu-154M to military and jet fighters MiG-15UTI, MiG-17, Su-7BMK and Su-17M.

Sixteen-year-old Elizaveta Rodionova studies at the Bogdashkin school of the Cherdaklinsky district of the Ulyanovsk region. The girl is the leader of the “Movement of the First” in the Ulyanovsk region, and also became the winner of the regional stage of the All-Russian competition “Student of the Year – 2026”. During the tour, the schoolgirl noted many similarities between young residents of the two countries and told about the impressions of the new experience.
- Our Ulyanovsk region is the aviation capital of Russia. It is all the more interesting to compare aircraft, to see this scale with your own eyes and to realize how deep our ties between the countries are. The impressions are the most pleasant. We were greeted with such warmth everywhere. Students of different schools asked with interest about our activities, about us, wanted to know our opinion. I really like it here in Belarus. Being here gives us invaluable experience. It is interesting to talk with locals and find a lot in common between us and the residents of Belarus as a whole, Rodionova said.

For Maxim Mishutin from secondary school No. 47 of Ulyanovsk, one of the largest exhibits – a lifting aircraft – made a special impression.
- It's very roomy, big. The cockpit itself is also very interesting. Every museum we visited left its mark and discovered something new. I think I will definitely share all this with my friends – I will tell them about the history of Belarus and what I managed to learn here.
