Students of the 11th grade of secondary school No. 92, together with a representative of the Factory District Committee of the BRSM, visited the veteran of the Great Patriotic War Grigory Baikov, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

Frontovik G. Baikov on September 25 turned 99 years old.
His fate absorbed a whole era: from December 1944 to March 1951, he defended the borders of the USSR. Afterwards he returned to peaceful life and worked for the benefit of his native country for almost forty years – first at the Minsk Bearing Plant, and then at the V.I. Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant. Grigory Petrovich Baikov is an example of resilience, wisdom and amazing modesty.
For the younger generation, this meeting became not just a formal visit, but a real lesson in history. The guys presented the veteran with flowers and gifts, wished him good health and many years, and most importantly, they said sincere words of gratitude.

We talked about the future. Eleven-graders shared with the veteran their plans for life – told where they are going to go, who they dream of becoming. G. Baikov listened to everyone and advised to choose a profession and an educational institution to his liking, then study will be a joy, and the work of a whole life will develop. His words will be remembered for a long time.
- It is a great honor to congratulate the veteran on his 99th birthday in person. When I look at him, so wise and humble, I understand what true heroism is. It is because of these people that we live. I am very grateful for this meeting and for the opportunity to touch the living history, said eleven-grader Camilla Kryukova.

The first secretary of the Factory District Committee of BRSM Ksenia Hvasko also joined the congratulations.
- We congratulated not just a veteran, but a man who gave us a peaceful sky. For us young people, Grigory Petrovich is a landmark. But it is important to remember veterans not only on holidays. You should visit them for nothing – come, talk, listen to their stories. After all, behind each such meeting is a memory that should not fade. I want to wish the veteran health, warmth and many more years of life near his loved ones, Khwasko said.
Such meetings are not just a tribute to tradition. It is a bridge between generations that helps young people understand the cost of a peaceful sky over their heads. The youth of the factory district promises that the history of veterans will live in their words, deeds and hearts.
