Almost every fourth pensioner in Belarus continues to work – Ministry of Labor
Almost one in four pensioners in the country continues to work. On the eve of the Day of Older Persons, which will be celebrated in Belarus on October 1, she said.

Almost one in four pensioners in the country continues to work. On the eve of the Day of the elderly, which in Belarus will be celebrated on October 1, said Deputy Minister of labor and social protection Marina Artemenko, the correspondent of sb.by.

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection noted:
The foundation for a stable improvement in the quality of life of older people in Belarus is pension provision. The task of the state today is aimed at maintaining the real growth of pensions. About 9 percent of GDP is allocated to them in Belarus. In 2026 it is more than 31 billion rubles.
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection noted that pensions have been increased twice this year:
- Overall, pensions increased by 15 percent. The average pension of a non-working pensioner is 1126 rubles. Nearly one in four pensioners still work. These pensioners 489 thousand.
Marina Artemenko drew attention to the mechanisms that allow to increase the pension:
- In particular, this is the Deferred Pension program, under which a person postpones receiving a pension, continues to work and subsequently receives an additional bonus. The program was used by 5,000 people. There is also an additional funded pension, the popular name of the program “Three plus three”, covers about 95 thousand citizens.
Employment services are in demand in Belarus. For 8 months of this year, assistance in employment was provided to almost 1,400 citizens of pre-retirement age and 1,900 citizens of retirement age.
