Belarus celebrates the Day of Older Persons on October 1. What activities are planned for this date, said Deputy Minister of labor and social protection Marina Artemenko. It's reported by sb.by.

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection noted:
- The fifth republican marathon in Scandinavian walking will be held on October 1 in Dzerzhinsk. Last year alone, 7,000 elderly citizens took part in it. Further, on October 3, in Minsk, sports fans will gather the Ministry of Sport within the framework of the open republican sports and mass competitions “Active longevity”.
Belarusians over 65 are actively involved in sports, the speaker noted:
- In sports life involved 32 percent of older people, of which 72 percent exercise four or more times a week.
Marina Artemenko also said that 153 “silver” job fairs are organized in all regions of the country from September 28 to October 2:
- This is a fairly new event, but enjoys constant popularity. On the first day of this year alone, about 500 people visited the fairs across the country.
The speaker added that in each region and district of the country there will be events for the Day of the elderly:
