In the Palace of the Republic at a solemn event dedicated to the Teacher's Day, the name of the winner of the competition of professional skills of teachers "Teacher ...".

In the Palace of the Republic at the solemn event dedicated to the Teacher’s Day, the name of the winner of the competition of professional skills of teachers “Teacher of the Year of Belarus – 2026” was named. They became Denis Dubanevich, a teacher of mathematics of secondary school No 5 of the city of Smolevichi (Minsk region), the correspondent of sb.by reports.

The choice of profession is largely due to the mother, who worked as a mathematics teacher for almost 50 years. His older brother also works in education.
- It can be said that it was a family choice, which I do not regret at all, the winner of the competition emphasized.
It is noteworthy that Denis Dubanevich headed the educational institution for nine years (almost half of his working experience), but decided to return to the school class as a teacher:
- I think this is my calling and I have no regrets. I don't want any other job. The most important thing for me is to see in the eyes of children faith in their teacher. Participated in the competition to show by example that there are no unattainable peaks, it is enough just to want and make efforts for this.
An interesting fact: on Thursday, participants of the final stage of the Teacher of the Year contest and delegates of the IX Congress of Teachers and Education Workers of the CIS countries, which was held in Minsk, visited the Palace of Independence with a tour. Among the tourists was Denis Dubanevich. He admired the halls of the palace and shared a lovely story with our correspondent:
- I wanted to visit the Palace of Independence for a long time, but I did not know how to do it, and then I thought that the finalists would definitely be invited. That's what I tried to do! When I entered the Hall of Ceremonies, the largest hall in the Republic of Belarus, I realized that my bold expectations would be met. It is very valuable that the palace pays great attention to the history of our people. Have you seen caravans with millions of people from different regions of Belarus? It takes such a high appreciation of the work of farmers. And, of course, I am grateful for the support of teachers – the Head of State is always very sensitive to the education system, we try not to let it down!
