Left a bag on the bus, a phone in a taxi or a bag on the bench? The main thing is not to panic or postpone the search. In most cases, forgotten things can be returned if you act quickly and know where to turn.

First Deputy Head of the Pervomaysky Internal Affairs Department - Chief of the MOB Dmitry Shumilin noted:
- The thing found does not become the property of the person who discovered it. If a passenger notices that another person has forgotten the property in the transport, he must either return it to the owner if he knows who it belongs to, or pass the find to the driver. The driver is obliged to report the find and ensure the safety of the thing.
Appropriation of someone else's property may entail liability, up to criminal. According to Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, public works, a fine, correctional labor, arrest, restriction or imprisonment for up to three years are provided for theft. In this case, liability does not exempt from the obligation to return the property to the rightful owner.
- If you forget your bag on the bus or trolleybus, you should contact the appropriate park. In the case of a taxi, contact the driver or carrier company. The earlier it is done, the higher the probability that the thing will be able to detect, says Dmitry Shumilin. - Detail the missing person. When applying, the route number, approximate travel time, direction, stop where you left will be useful. The more accurate the description of a thing (color, size, special signs, key fob, scratches and other details), the easier it is to find it. Video surveillance cameras installed in transport can also help.
If the carrier did not help, contact the police. It is especially important to do this if documents or a bank card are missing along with the thing. In such a situation, you should apply to the ATS, and block the bank card as soon as possible.
- If the found thing was reported to the police, but within six months the owner did not appear and did not confirm his rights to the property, under certain conditions, the finder may have the right of ownership of the find in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 229 of the Civil Code.
