In Minsk, the first of the three “finals of four” of the open Republican Children’s and Youth Handball League “Vaverka Cap” – the strongest were determined by girls born in 2015-2017. In the decisive stage of the competition, the teams Minsk-1, Slutsk, Grodno and Zvenigorod were selected. The victory in the tournament won the capital handball players, writes sb.by.

In the first match of the final stage of the competition, the Minsk women beat rivals from Grodno - 24:14, then - from Slutsk - 20:16. Today, on September 26, in the final match, the capital team was stronger than the handball players from Zvenigorod - 14:11. The team from the Moscow region took second place, and closed the three strongest girls from Slutsk.
Maria Nikolaevich, recognized as the best player in the Minsk-1 team, has been engaged in handball for two years - she decided to try herself in this sport and stayed - I liked it. In the team that managed to win the “Waverka Cap”, the girl came about a year ago.
- We have a lot of good players and in general we are very friendly, Masha said about his team. The most difficult match in the tournament was probably against Zvenigorod, because we understood that a lot depends on him.

The girls had a lot of emotions after the victory. Despite the defeat in the last match, the team from Zvenigorod was satisfied with the performance. Mentor of the girls, honored coach of Russia Larisa Dremina, said that Russia also holds a lot of competitions among girls of this age category: there is the championship of the region, and all-Russian competitions, and tournaments from the Moscow Handball Academy. However, when the team was invited to participate in the "Wawerk Cap", they agreed - the parents of the players only supported this idea:
- It's a beautiful atmosphere. We played in three stages of the tournament: in February, May and finally in the final stage, where the four strongest teams of this age played. Our team came together quite late - we're only in our third year so we need as much play practice as possible. That’s what this tournament gives us: what we worked out in training, we showed on the court. This is tactical, technical and psychological training – all teams are equal, all fight and want to win medals. Great tournament.

The girls from the Zvenigorod team agreed with the coach and said: next season they would like to become members of the Vaverka Cap again. “Final four” in the younger age group is completed, but there is still a lot of interesting things ahead: in October, the tournament awards will be played by girls born in 2013-2014 and 2011-2012.
