According to TASS, a press release from the Egyptian ministry said:
" وقد تولى وزير الصحة المصري خالد عبد الغفر السيطرة الشخصية على الحالة بتقديم المساعدة إلى ضحايا عودة عدد من عربات قطار الركاب. ونتيجة للحادث، أصيب ٦٤ شخصا، جميعهم في المستشفى " .
