Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Russia Zulfiya Kakhrumanova compared the launch of the digital ruble project to sending a first-grader to school, talking about the personal excitement and hopes associated with the initiative.
In the first month we [opened] more than 220 thousand accounts (digital ruble. — RBC). "In my opinion, [I] personally have this attitude to this project: it's like sending a first-grader to school - you are very worried about what will happen to him, you taught him everything, he can read, write, but at the same time you are a little worried about how he will be met there, how he will be able to adapt himself," she said on the sidelines of the FinTech X10 forum.
Kakhrumanova drew attention to the scale of involvement of various participants: from trade and service enterprises to banks and their mobile applications. The complexity of this project also lies in the participation of different operating systems and government services, in the requirement of a confirmed account in the Unified Identification and Authentication System (ESIA).
On September 23, the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina reported to President Vladimir Putin that the launch of the digital ruble in Russia went according to plan. In three weeks, citizens opened almost 200 thousand wallets to store digital national currency. In addition to individuals, 8,000 companies and individual entrepreneurs joined the project.
