Partial lifting of the ban on the export of diesel fuel from Russia will not affect the interests of Russian consumers, since production volumes allow to ensure both the domestic market and supplies abroad. This statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the press service of the government reported.
From October 10, the government partially lifted restrictions on diesel exports, which will allow to send 500,000 tons of fuel to the world market. The decision was made within the framework of agreements between the presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Russian oil companies will immediately enter into contracts with foreign buyers in coordination with the government.
Diesel fuel in Russia is produced from Russian oil at domestic refineries. Production volumes allow to fully ensure both the domestic market and deliveries in these volumes to the world market, Novak said.
The ban on diesel exports has been in effect since January 31, 2026, and initially applied only to non-producers. Since July 9, the government has tightened the restrictions, extending them to direct producers.
Earlier, Trump said that Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the US and world markets, another 500,000 tons in November and 1 million tons later. Additional supplies may reach 3 million tons depending on the state of the refineries.
After that, the US Treasury issued a temporary license for operations with Russian diesel fuel, which will be valid until April 7, 2027.
