The Ministry of Industry and Trade is discussing combining the efforts of enterprises and regions for the development of Russian oilfield service enterprises. Minister Anton Alikhanov calls for the creation of a “national champion” in this industry to promote technology and equipment for export.
“Companies in Russia, which are leading in involving new developments in their activities in the country, probably together with them we need to think about creating some kind of ‘national champion’, which will also move for export,” Alikhanov said at the TNF industrial and energy forum.
The minister believes that it is difficult for individual companies to develop international markets, and therefore calls for a consolidated approach. According to him, we can talk about measures of state support and strengthening of major players who invest in the development of technologies in Russia.
Anton Alikhanov cited as an example two oilfield service companies that took over the assets of Western players who left Russia: TOFS and Burservice. They grew up in manufacturers of rotary control systems and other complex equipment.
