In January 2027, MTS will pay “net dividends” without attracting buybacks. This was stated by the financial director of the company Alexei Katunin, commenting on the updated dividend policy.
“Our current view is that this first baybek event will not involve. That is, we will pay net dividends without a buyback, Katunin said at the Investor’s Day (quoted by RBC). The next dividend payment in July 2027 will not do without a buyback, said the CFO of MTS.
Alexey Katunin described the principle of payments as follows: the decision on the volume and order of the buyback and dividends will be published simultaneously. We say we have an OIBDA of 20%. We decided to give back this amount to shareholders. And it is so distributed between dividends and buyback. Then a dividend misfire is announced. And immediately after this dividend misfire, we begin intervention, he said.
The Board of Directors of MTS approved a new dividend policy for 2027-2028, according to which the company will return to shareholders up to 20% of annual OIBDA (operating profit before depreciation). The new provisions provide for the return of capital to shareholders through dividends and buybacks. On the dividends themselves, MTS will direct 70% of the total return of value to shareholders, which is up to 14% of OIBDA for the reporting period. The remaining 30% will go to buyback.
