The Moscow Arbitration Court rejected the claim of Alfa-Bank, which demanded to recover $101.3 million from Norilsk Nickel. This is reported by RIA Novosti from the courtroom. The dispute is related to a syndicated loan that a group of foreign banks issued to Norilsk Nickel in 2017.
In 2020-2021, Alfa-Bank concluded an agreement with the syndicate participants – the London branches of Deutsche Bank and Societe Generale – on a funded participation in the loan. Alfa-Bank paid credit institutions $35.7 million and $44.6 million, respectively. In return, he was entitled to a portion of future payments on the Norilsk Nickel loan.
In March 2022, Deutsche Bank and Societe Generale stopped transferring payments from Norilsk Nickel to Alfa Bank. The bank required the company to make payments directly to him. Norilsk Nickel refused, after which Alfa Bank filed a lawsuit to recover debt and interest.
