German fashion and accessories maker Hugo Boss has announced the appointment of Michael Murray as the new head of the supervisory board. He also serves as CEO of the British conglomerate Frasers Group, the largest shareholder in the German company, which owns a 48 percent stake in it. Since May 2025, Murray has been on the Supervisory Board of Hugo Boss.
On September 14, Hugo Boss announced the resignation of the former head of the Supervisory Board Stefan Sturm. Earlier this year, Frasers made an offer to buy Hugo Boss for €2.7 billion, but the company’s management rejected the offer, believing that Frasers too low valued it. Then the British conglomerate increased its share to 48%.
According to Bloomberg, the resignation of Mr. Sturm may be related to the desire of Frasers to strengthen its influence on the supervisory board of Hugo Boss and thereby facilitate the purchase of the company. Now the post of head of the supervisory board was taken by the CEO of Frasers Michael Murray, who is also married to the daughter of the founder of the conglomerate Mike Ashley. In August, Mr Ashley told the Financial Times he was not going to make Mr Murray CEO of Hugo Boss.
