The first deliveries of MS-21 aircraft under the new contract of Rostec and Aeroflot will begin in 2029. The contract is designed for 90 aircraft. This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.
Deliveries will be carried out from 2029 to 2032. Aeroflot will receive aircraft in batches of 14, 18, 24 and 34 aircraft per year. According to Anton Alikhanov, the cost of developing the MS-21 will not affect the cost of air tickets. “Here, the state takes that burden on itself. Here in any case, the airline will not suffer, he told reporters (quoted by TASS).
The cost of MS-21 will be reduced to below 7.5 billion rubles, added Anton Alikhanov. “In fact, we will have to cut several billion down on the price due to economies of scale, which we get thanks to such a large order of airlines, and, of course, work with the internal efficiency of both UAC and its contractors,” he said.
MS-21 is a medium-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft with a capacity of 163-211 passengers. The first contract of the United Aircraft Corporation and Aeroflot is designed for 18 aircraft. The first eight are planned to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2027, the rest in 2028.
