The Ministry of Finance of Russia intends to purchase diamonds in Gokhran within a year, Deputy Minister Alexei Moiseev said at the Moscow Financial Forum. According to him, the market shows signs of recovery, so the Ministry of Finance will take a wait-and-see position.

“Our main goal is to buy gold, so we will now wait and observe until I see the need to buy diamonds, but some small purchases will be made,” said Alexei Moiseev, answering a question about the decision to purchase diamonds in Gokhran.

He recalled that diamonds have a budget limit until the end of the year. The purchase of diamonds will be tied to market conditions. At the end of last year, Mr. Moiseev noted that Gokhran in 2026 can buy gold and diamonds for 50 billion rubles.
