According to Bloomberg, the price increase accelerated in September, when diesel rose in price almost every day. Since the beginning of the month, its average price has risen by 87 cents, or 15%. While there aren’t many diesel cars in the U.S., many trucks, as well as agricultural and other machinery, are fueling the fuel.
Prices of gasoline, diesel and other petroleum products have been rising since the beginning of the war in Iran. In September, the situation worsened after damage to the East-West pipeline in Saudi Arabia. The Wall Street Journal writes that this led to a shortage of tankers and an increase in the cost of oil transportation.
