By the end of 2026, Russia's GDP growth is expected to be "slightly less" than a year earlier, said Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank (CB) Alexei Zabotkin. He did not give a specific figure.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank, the Russian economy has been in a state of full employment for the third year, which affects its growth rates. Mr. Zabotkin called this one of the reasons for the decline in GDP growth. The second reason is the temporary loss of production and logistics capacities in a number of industries, which occurred in recent months.
“GDP growth for the year as a whole will be slightly less than last year,” said Alexei Zabotkin at a hearing in the Federation Council (quoted by RIA Novosti).
The Central Bank in September worsened the assessment of the economy in a new consensus forecast. In particular, the forecast for GDP growth for 2027 was reduced from 1.3% to 1.2%. The Ministry of Economy this year expects GDP growth by 0.6%, and then its gradual acceleration - from 1.4% in 2027 to 2.4% in 2029.
