The Russian company Bioamide (part of Norkem Group) together with the Research Center Kurchatov Institute implemented the first project in the country on the large-scale introduction of biocatalysis technology into large-scale organic chemistry. This was announced at the Bioprom forum held in Gelendzhik by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.
According to the minister, the company has become the world’s second supplier of biocatalysts for chemical processes. The technology itself, not only the final product, was bought by our partners from Italy, the United States, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Germany. The product is so high that we supply it to unfriendly countries, Alikhanov said.
Biocatalysis is the use of biological systems (e.g., biomass, enzymes) to accelerate chemical reactions. It is considered more environmentally friendly than classical chemical synthesis.
