The Ministry of Finance of Russia paid coupon income on Eurobonds maturing in 2042. The amount of payments amounted to 7 billion rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry.
The amount paid is equivalent to $84.4 billion. It was received by the agent for Eurobonds of the NGO National Settlement Depository JSC. The ministry’s report provides codes for both the original issue and the issue, which was placed during the replacement of sovereign Eurobonds.
From June 2022, the Ministry of Finance carries out all payments on sovereign Eurobonds of Russia in rubles. Eurobonds are considered executed if the payment is made in rubles for an amount equivalent to the value of liabilities in foreign currency. As explained by the Ministry of Finance, the authorities resorted to such a measure because of the refusal of foreign counterparties to fulfill their obligations to make payments for servicing the Russian state debt.
