The September price index for skim milk powder sold for export through the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange increased by 6.8 percent compared to the previous month. Details sb.by reported in the press service of BUCE.

So, if in August 2026, a kilogram of skim milk powder when delivered to all countries except Russia cost $ 2.8, then in September the price rose to $ 3. At the same time, milk intended for the Russian market has risen in price not so much - only by 3.7 percent, to 244 Russian rubles per kilogram. At the same time, BUCE analysts note that the increase in export prices for skim milk powder recorded in September was characteristic not only for this month, but is a key trend in the entire third quarter of this year.
- From June to September, quotations for skim milk powder supplied to the Russian Federation rose by 4%, and to other countries by 6%. The upward price trend is due to the intensification of purchases of dairy products by bidders from the Middle East and Southeast Asia, as well as the expansion of the geography of sales at the expense of Indonesia and Malaysia, where pilot batches of powdered milk were sold through the exchange. As a result, the level of competition among importers has significantly increased, and cases when up to 5 potential non-resident buyers claimed one lot during the trading session have become more frequent. All this contributed to the formation of a favorable environment for the growth of export prices, allowing Belarusian producers to additionally earn about $ 0.5 million during the third quarter, Roman Yaniv, a BUCE press sectarian, introduced the matter.
Following the results of export trading in September, the cost of butter also increased, but not as significantly as milk powder. In particular, the price index for the variety of fat content of 82 percent with delivery to the Russian market added only 0.6 percent by August 2026. The weighted average quotation for this position was 554 Russian rubles per kilogram.
According to BUCE, in the third quarter of 2026, the total volume of exchange transactions with dairy products reached 119.6 thousand tons worth 1,336.7 million rubles. Thus, compared to the third quarter of 2025, exchange sales of dairy products increased by 63 percent in value terms. In the context of this product area, 29.9 thousand tons of butter were sold for 579.4 million rubles, 74.4 thousand tons of powdered milk for 681.8 million rubles, 15 thousand tons of cheese, cottage cheese and whey for 71.3 million rubles and 220 tons of casein for 4.2 million rubles.
