Duc explained why Belarus’ military industry developments are tightly integrated into the economy and social sphere

On October 6, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the testing ground of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Powder Metallurgy named after Academician O.V. Roman” during a working trip to Minsk region, where he got acquainted with scientific developments of civil and defense purposes. On the air of the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio”, the rector of the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Republican State-Public Association “Belarusian Society “Knowledge” Denis Duc discussed the conditions under which the President controls the processes related to the development of defense purposes, writes sb.by. Conditions of development of military industry - Conditions are complex, but controlled. Today, hysteria is heating up on our southern and western borders, but we see an adequate reaction of the Belarusian military and the interaction of military departments. If the politicians of the southern neighboring country throw openly militaristic slogans, the borders are quite calm. The military communicate with each other at the professional level, the process of exchanging prisoners of war is underway on our territory, and various humanitarian missions are being implemented. Thousands of Ukrainians have found a new home in Belarus, many of them received Belarusian citizenship. But, as the President rightly says: “If you want peace, prepare for war”, – said the guest of the studio. Belarusian military industry is a synthesis of production and science. This has always been the case in industrial and post-industrial societies, and nothing has changed. Today, military industry is a driver of economic development, as is the space industry. And many of the innovations that were presented to the President the other day are already things that have been implemented and can be applied in practice for both military and civilian purposes. For example, unmanned technology is a factor that determines not only the conditions of warfare, but also the economic agenda. They are actively used by farmers, EMERCOM and others. Our developments have a dual purpose, that is, they can be used both in military and defense purposes (we are not going to attack anyone), and in peaceful ones, and the range of applications is quite wide. We are talking about how effectively they should be introduced into the economy, because it is possible to militarize everything and actually raise the percentage of GDP for defense, to such heights that we will forget about the social sphere. But should we do that?

Today we are building a strategic partnership with the Russian Federation, providing ourselves with a reliable nuclear shield. Belarus is also integrated into the Union programs. We have an active exchange of technology. Look at the military industry: gunpowder is produced for military purposes, but it is used for peaceful purposes. These are the thousands of tons that our miners use today in their technologies when they develop quarries, subsoil, and extract minerals. That is, all this finds application in peaceful life. Therefore, it is not necessary to talk about the fact that today the Belarusian army lives purely in its closed world, divorced from society, Denis Duk stressed. In Belarus, military industry developments are closely integrated into the economy and social sphere. And today, a military man is a person who is first of all ready to come to the rescue, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, self-government units and others, if something happens in the country. So we are not a militarized economy, but a high-tech economy that knows how to provide for itself. For example, bulletproof vests, personal protective equipment, mechanical engineering samples can be retrofitted, retrofitted, and they will be a dual-use product, not inferior to international standards. We also make and supply chassis for the defense of our Union State, capable of carrying heavy weapons. Building a unified defense of the Union State, we are integrated into the issues of common national security of our Fatherland - from Brest to Vladivostok. We are building the same alliance as our opponents with their “defensive” NATO alliance, hiding behind beautiful slogans. But NATO has shown throughout its history that it is not a defensive alliance, but an alliance aimed at solving strategically aggressive tasks. Even opponents of the Russian government say that the key mistake of strategic planning was that NATO’s eastward expansion was a utopia. That is, they talk about what is not customary to talk about, since NATO expansion is considered a natural process, although it contradicts all international documents that were adopted at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the redrawing of the bipolar world, the rector of the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus emphasized. The Head of State always keeps science in sight, treats scientists and their developments with great piety. He repeatedly stressed that the work of a scientist is very hard, so he bows to what our researchers are doing today in many areas. And directs them that the bar cannot be lowered. Today, many developments are practice-oriented, and this is what the President is aiming at. The importance and importance of fundamental developments is not negated, but practical orientation is a trend. For example, the technologies that were created during the development of a domestic electric vehicle are being actively introduced into the development of electric transport during the construction of Belkommunmash line equipment. Our electric buses and electric trucks are actively produced in Belarus and are closing entire regional programs where everything is transferred to electric transport. The head of state emphasizes that it is necessary to expand the number of cities where all equipment is electric, and domestically produced. These developments do not go anywhere, they are integrated into individual elements that are used on a global scale, the speaker added.
