The Eurasian Development Bank and the Ministry of Finance of the Sultanate of Oman signed an agreement on the terms of the bank’s stay in Oman. The signing took place in Astana during the state visit of Sultan Haytham bin Tariq Al Said to Kazakhstan, the press service of the EDB reports.

The document was signed by Omani Finance Minister Sultan bin Salem Al Habsi and EDB Chairman Nikolai Podguzov. The ceremony was held in the presence of the Sultan of Oman and the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Oman will become the eighth shareholder of the EDB and the first member state from the Gulf region. As noted in the Bank, this opens a new stage in its activities.
- The agreement is a step towards closer ties between Central Asia and the Gulf region. We see great potential here and we will develop this cooperation, including within the framework of the new strategy of the bank, said Nikolai Podguzov.
The document reflects the mutual interest of Oman and the Bank in long-term partnership, sustainable investment and the development of regional ties. The signing was an important step for the economic relations of Oman, Kazakhstan and other countries of the Eurasian region.
