The economy of the Vitebsk region in the first 9 months of 2026 maintains a stable positive dynamics

The economy of the Vitebsk region in January-September 2026 worked with positive dynamics. This opinion was shared with journalists by Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Angelika Nikitina today, October 28, before the meeting, which will consider the socio-economic development of the region for 9 months and the expected results of 2026. This year opens a five-year program of social and economic development of the Republic of Belarus for 2026-2030. An assessment of how the region completed 9 months is already available, said Angelica Nikitina:

The figures show that the region has worked with positive dynamics on all key indicators. These are the volume of industrial production, retail turnover, construction and installation works, investments in fixed assets, foreign trade operations – all of them are performed with an increase. In terms of gross regional product, we also reached the level of the previous year and ensured positive growth dynamics.

The speaker expressed confidence that the Vitebsk region will maintain positive dynamics in terms of the main indicators and the results of the whole of 2026, and in some cases increase. In particular, on investments in fixed assets. This is a key factor in the development of the region today, the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee emphasized:

- To date, more than 300 investment projects in various sectors of the economy are being implemented in the region. This year we plan to complete another 77, about 53 have already been completed. Therefore, this indicates progressive growth. The region is not the first year passes the milestone mark on this indicator with overfulfillment of the task.

According to her, the investment development of the region is determined for all districts of the Vitebsk region, based on their competence:

- This is the development of the tourism sector, which we recently talked about when the President of the Republic of Belarus visited Vitebsk region. These are projects in woodworking, the traditional pharmaceutical industry for us, machine tool and mechanical engineering.

As noted by Angelika Nikitina, thanks to the work of the economy in the region, steady growth of both real and minimum wages has been ensured. According to the indicator of budget revenues, the growth rate of the Vitebsk region exceeded the republican average level, the deputy chairman of the regional executive committee stated:

- First of all, it speaks about the efficient work of the economy. This result, in principle, will be preserved by the end of 2026. This is the foundation for the development of the entire five-year program. We see certain reserves in certain industries, in certain enterprises, which today can work more efficiently both in export supplies and in import substitution. Today we produce more than 200 types of import-substituting products. As part of the import substitution program, about 100 enterprises of the region operate. We produce innovative products. And according to this indicator, the region is in leading positions in the country. So there is something to strive for.

The speaker also added that the main task for the economy of the Vitebsk region is currently focused on the formation of a development strategy for each enterprise for 2027, taking into account all regulatory legal acts in force in the Vitebsk region:

- There are prospects for development, as well as the understanding of personnel, where to move both at the district and regional levels.
