What might have been inside is still unknown. But the signs of the desired can are named very accurately: Original Zörbiger Schwarze Johannisbeere, 255 grams, minimum shelf life date 21.05.2028 and EAN 4013034740411. It’s not just in the refrigerator. With such a shelf life, the purchase could have long been lost somewhere for honey, mustard and pickles.

ZUEGG Deutschland is withdrawing this position because of the possible presence of foreign particles. The goods are asked not to use, but to return to the seller. The cost must be reimbursed without a cash receipt.

Three-line password

The concern does not apply to the entire line of Original Zörbiger and not even all packages with black currant. You need to compare the weight of 255 grams, the date of May 21, 2028 and the barcode 4013034740411.

If at least one of these parameters is different, the product is reportedly not affected by the current campaign. Other products of the brand and lot with other minimum shelf life are also not subject to it.

The sales geography, however, is impressive. Allotment was received in at least 12 federal states, including Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin, Brandenburg and Thuringia.

So the reason to look at the distant shelf is far from only the residents of Saxony-Anhalt, where the production is located.

Stuffing of unknown origin

The main intrigue remains unanswered. ZUEGG reports only that the presence of foreign particles cannot be ruled out. What exactly could get into the contents – glass, metal, plastic, wood or other material – is not officially specified. It is therefore premature to draw conclusions about the specific nature of the risk.

In general, hard or sharp inclusions can damage the mouth, throat or digestive tract. But there is no reason to attribute this or that type of pollution to this batch without confirming the manufacturer.

Tasting cancelled

The worst thing you can do is open the package, inspect the contents, and decide if you can’t see anything suspicious, then everything is safe. A small particle may well remain invisible. Therefore, the appearance here is not a guarantee. If the marking matches, do not try the contents.

If there is a suspicion that a foreign object has already been swallowed, especially for pain, difficulty swallowing or breathing, medical attention should be sought.

The cashier will pay you back

You don't have to throw away the purchase. You can take it back to the point of sale and get the value back. Information about the recall was distributed including large networks, including REWE. Particular attention should be paid to home stocks. The minimum shelf life expires only in May 2028, so the purchase could well lie in the kitchen cabinet or pantry for several months and have time to forget.
