Gomel region doubled the gross harvest of oilseeds and threshed more than a million tons of grain together with spikes

Agrarians of the Gomel region completed the harvesting of grain spike crops and winter rapeseed with a total of 1.15 million tons. The main result of the Polesie strand was a two-fold increase in oilseeds: the gross rapeseed harvest amounted to 144.4 thousand tons - this is the maximum figure in the history of agricultural production in the region. About effective technological solutions, the right balance of time and tight sowing time, which allowed to keep a high bar, in an exclusive interview with sb.by told the Chairman of the Gomel regional Executive Committee Ivan Krupko.

In agriculture, there are no simple periods, and the current season once again demanded maximum concentration from farmers. A long spring with precipitation was replaced by May frosts and summer moisture deficit, which made serious adjustments to the initial plans.

However, the farms of the region caught the necessary balance of time and moisture in time, sowed early spring crops in the shortest possible time and reconstructed the structure of the fields.

The weather tested the Polesie grain growers for strength, but the verified agronomic strategy allowed not only to level the vagaries of nature, but to reach a historical maximum.

- This year will go down in the history of the region as one of the most productive. The region confidently threshed 1.15 million tons of grain of spike and rapeseed oil. Moreover, in rapeseed, we exceeded the level of last year by 73.2 thousand tons, or twice. The average yield of oilseeds amounted to 21.9 centners per hectare, and the gross harvest was the highest in history - 144.4 thousand tons, which is twice higher than the level of 2025, Ivan Krupko said.

As for grain spikes, this season the farmers of the Gomel region collected 922.4 thousand tons. The result is 56,000 tons more modest than last year, but the “high base effect” worked here.

- The main thing is that over the past two years, the region not only fully provides the livestock industry with its own grain, but has created a reliable transferable reserve for the next season. Thanks to the grain of corn, we plan to approach last year’s gross harvest, the chairman of the regional executive committee stressed.

A reliable foundation of the forage base in the conditions of risky agriculture is traditionally corn. According to the head of the region, in dry periods, when other cultures suffer from heat, it allows farmers to stay with the harvest:

Corn for grain is planned to be removed from the area of 63 thousand hectares — almost at the level of 2025. Each district has its own soil nuances, but on average we have reached indicators that will completely cover all domestic needs. An important technological innovation of recent seasons: the obtained corn grain is prioritized for ivying, which reduces the financial costs of drying.

A weighty harvest allowed the Gomel region to fully close the state order: 9 thousand tons of rapeseed oilseeds were delivered to the Gomel Fat Plant, and processors of food grain received 45.5 thousand tons of bread for republican needs.
