In a report published on October 11 for the Ivanovo region, an indicator of 1,486,990 rubles of gross product per person per year was indicated. However, this amount does not mean that every resident of the region receives such money in the form of wages or other personal income.
The authors of the publication referred to political scientist Anton Pavlov and attributed the region to the nine regions of Russia with the lowest value of the indicator. The report also cited comparisons with the Nenets Autonomous District, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. At the same time, the year of calculation, the initial data and the method of comparison were not indicated.
Gross regional product (GRP) is used to assess the economy of a particular Russian region. It reflects the value of goods and services produced in the territory of the subject. To get a value per inhabitant, the total volume of GRP is divided by the average annual population.
This indicator allows you to compare the economic scale of regions, but does not reflect the real income of specific people. For a correct comparison, it is necessary to use data for the same period and a single methodology. Comparison with foreign countries also requires explanations about the selected indicators and the method of currency conversion.
