Yaroslavl State University (YarSU) named after P.G. Demidov for the first time acted as a platform for launching a free program of additional professional education “Business Analytics” with the possibility of further paid internships.
YarSU partners were PSB Bank and Sberbank. The first participants will be students of the fourth year and master's degree programs of various faculties of the university.
The Bank systematically works with young people and universities, and this program is part of our great work to train highly qualified personnel for the digital economy. Students who will undergo a course of study developed by PSB will receive useful experience with a variety of tasks – this is analytics, methodology, visualization, and the introduction of artificial intelligence. And experts will supervise the learning process throughout and help children achieve their goals. For a paid internship, PSB will select up to 20 people, they will deal with real cases for one year. But after six months of internship, we will invite the most talented, initiative, motivated people to permanent work in PSB, said Oleg Barybin, First Deputy Chairman of PSB.
During the 12-week educational program, students of YarSU will learn to analyze large amounts of data, apply complex algorithms in practice, performing real tasks. Participants will learn to work with BI Navigator, a Russian platform for data analysis and visualization. As a result of the training, students will perform a complex task compiled by PSB experts and including data preparation and assembly of a custom interactive screen. Thus, participants will be able to gain practical experience working with an industrial analytical platform and solving real business problems. They will defend their projects at a competition before a commission of experts from PSB, Sber and YarSU.
Today, it is especially important that students get experience with modern tools that are already used in real business. This is an important step in the development of data-driven management skills, which is becoming a key skill for managers and analysts, regardless of their area of responsibility. BI Navigator allows you to combine academic training with practice and give future managers the skills that will be in demand from the first day of work. For example, in Sber, the platform combines more than 10 thousand business indicators and allows you to solve a wide range of analytical problems. Navigator BI is becoming the basis for Russia’s first DPO program of this format, and this is a good example of how Sber’s technologies help prepare a new generation of analysts, said Taras Skvortsov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Financial Director of Sberbank.
Students of different fields will be able to join this program, it is suitable not only for future economists, but also for anyone who has analytical thinking and likes to visualize data. For the university, this joint educational project with PSB and Sber is important primarily because it will remove the so-called “gap” between theoretical training and practical skills, all this is currently in maximum demand among employers, emphasized Mikhail Chistyakov, First Vice-Rector of P.G. Demidov YarSU.
For reference:
Recall that from April 1, 2025, Yaroslavl became the home region for the PSB. The Bank takes an active part in the development and strengthening of the economic potential of the region, supporting various infrastructure and social projects, including those aimed at training highly qualified personnel. Thus, PSB not only creates new jobs, but also retains talented young people in their hometown, giving them the opportunity for professional self-realization in Yaroslavl. All this is part of a great work to improve the level of comfort and quality of life of Yaroslavl residents.
