The Governor of the Novgorod region Alexander Dronov accepted the report of his deputy Oleg Shakhov on the interim results of the agricultural season. The head of the region reported on his channel in the messenger “Max”.

This year, the conditions in Novgorod were difficult. It rained 25 days in a row, the ground turned to mud, and heavy equipment sometimes simply did not have the opportunity to enter the field. According to experts, this has not happened in our region for 12 years.

However, the weather did not prevent the full completion of spring sowing. 34 thousand hectares were sown with grains, vegetables and potatoes. Plan for fodder crops Novgorod farmers exceeded 40%. Already collected the first forty tons of strawberries and raspberries. Greenhouse plants operate as usual. Grain harvesting is also going well – they were collected from 8,936 hectares, that is, from 79% of all areas.

“The most difficult thing now is with potatoes and open ground vegetables. Part of the crop will be lost due to the weather. But farms use every fine day, and where equipment does not pass, they switch to manual labor. We will not leave Agrarians without support, Alexander Dronov said.

The Governor thanked those who work in the fields of our region and reminded that the food security of the Novgorod region depends on their work.
