The weather forced Novgorod farmers to adjust the tactics of harvesting

In the Novgorod region summed up the interim results of the harvesting campaign. Today, October 9, Deputy Governor Oleg Shakhov held a meeting of the operational headquarters, which discussed the progress of work. Representatives of municipal district administrations and farmers participated in the work of the headquarters, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reported.

Despite the difficult weather, farmers cope perfectly. The plan for grain harvesting has already been exceeded and is 105%.

Now they are actively digging potatoes and harvesting vegetables. Potatoes have already been removed from 48% of the area, the total harvest amounted to 63 thousand tons. Vegetables collected 38 thousand tons from a thousand hectares.

First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sergey Shirokov told how the weather affected the work of agricultural producers. Due to the rain and dampness, farmers changed their tactics. Now the technique is sent first to elevations, where the ground dries faster. This approach helps to preserve the harvest and harvest it to the maximum.

The meeting also discussed how best to organize transportation and where to store already collected products. All the ideas of farmers were taken into work, and the agencies were tasked with quickly solving emerging problems. The cleaning campaign in the region continues in difficult conditions, but farmers are determined to show a decent result.
