The African vector is becoming one of the priorities of Belarus’ foreign economic strategy, and Sudan is no exception. The delegation of this country, headed by the State Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Mohammed Noor Abdul-Daim, is working in Minsk these days. One of the key points of the program was a visit to the Development Bank, where they discussed not just the current agenda, but building a long-term model of interaction. To this end, the parties signed a loan agreement on financing the Belarusian products supplies to Sudan by the Development Bank.

- Your visit clearly confirms the mutual high interest in enhancing mutually beneficial economic cooperation. A legal framework has already been created for the practical implementation of future projects: during the fifth meeting of the joint Belarusian-Sudanese cooperation commission, the General Agreement on Export Credits was signed between the Governments of the two countries.
The head of the financial institution stressed that the document provides for the possibility of lending by the Bank for the development of supplies of Belarusian goods, works and services to Sudan. The main thesis of the day, he called the specification of potential projects for their implementation. In addition, Sergey Stoliarchuk spoke in detail about the mechanisms for financing Belarusian exports using the example of already implemented cases.
- Despite the fact that the Development Bank is a relatively young financial institution in the country, about 700 export contracts have been implemented in 18 countries. At the same time, the range of products supplied outside Belarus is diverse: from the food industry to high-tech products. This suggests that the experience of the Development Bank in implementing foreign trade transactions allows us to effectively increase trade turnover between the countries today, said Sergey Stoliarchuk.

- We are grateful to the leadership of your republic for focusing on cooperation with our country. Sudan remembers the visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in 2017, which gave impetus to cooperation between our states. We are interested in implementing joint projects with Belarus on the supply of agricultural products and equipment for work in the agro-industrial sector. Sudanese farmers are well aware of the MTW technique and, in particular, the BELARUS brand. I am confident that a wide range of your engineering products will improve the efficiency of our agriculture, said Mohammed Noor Abdul-Daim.

- We finance a large number of investment projects throughout the country and know our customers and the products they produce. Therefore, you can form a pool of goods or services you need, and the Development Bank, in turn, will act as a platform for communication with manufacturers, said Sergey Stolyarcuk.
The negotiations resulted in the signing of a loan agreement, which will create a financial basis for the implementation of joint initiatives to supply Belarusian products to Sudan. By the way, the republics already have a number of potential projects for the supply of granaries, tractors and other agricultural machinery.
The parties noted that the signing of this document is not just a declaration of intent, but a strategic step: Belarus is ready to offer its African partners not one-time deals, but a long-term model of industrial and agricultural cooperation, backed by real financial instruments.
