The Russian division of the network of hypermarkets "Auchan retail" was headed by Ilya Berdnikov. He took over as CEO on September 19, 2026, the company’s press service said. His predecessor Asya Balabai will continue as Executive Director.

Berdnikov has over ten years of experience in FMCG and retail. Prior to joining Auchan, he worked for X5 Group, where he was responsible for the strategic development and operational performance of a key business. He previously held senior management positions at Mondelez International and Kraft Heinz.

The change of leadership occurred two days after the transfer of the Russian “daughter” of the French network under temporary management. On September 17, by decree of President Vladimir Putin, 99.985% of the shares in the authorized capital of OOO “Auchan”, owned by Sozhepar, passed to L.E.V. Management.

After the decree was issued, Auchan asked the state authorities for explanations on the future fate of Russian business. At the same time, the chain stores continued to operate normally, without changes for customers and employees of the company.
