The Vitebsk region has the potential and reserves for further socio-economic growth. This opinion was shared with journalists by First Deputy Minister of Economy Ivan Vezhnovets today, October 28, before the meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, where the issue of socio-economic development of the region for 9 months and the expected results of 2026 is considered, the correspondent of sb.by reports.

Ivan Vezhnovets reminded that among the priorities of the Program of socio-economic development of the country for the current five-year period are demographic security, human capital development, increasing the competitiveness of the economy as a whole, a quality environment for life, the development of strong regions, ensuring military security and the development of tourism. As for the Vitebsk region, the year 2026 showed that there are reserves for growth in the region as a whole, the First Deputy Minister of Economy stated:
- Following the results of 9 months, the region reached a positive value of integral indicators for the regional product. Well done in agriculture. If we talk about wages, its growth rate is higher than in other regions of the country. There are also reserves for growth. First of all, in terms of implementation of investment projects. The Ministry of Economy controls more than 100 investment projects from among those implemented in the Vitebsk region. At the same time, we believe that this is not enough, and there is potential for further development, including in terms of the implementation of new projects and the development of production in promising competitive areas. The legislative framework in the Republic of Belarus was created for this, and the corresponding decision of the Head of State was adopted. The economy of the Vitebsk region worked with positive dynamics in the first 9 months of 2026
