The level of mechanization of logging has increased in recent decades – Uldinovich

The level of logging mechanization has increased significantly in recent decades. This was stated by the Minister of Forestry Sergey Uldinovich on the air of the TV channel “First Information”, reports sb.by.

“Today, it is almost impossible to work in the forest without logging equipment. If we talk about the level of mechanization of logging, it has increased significantly in recent years (not even years, but decades). This level of mechanization in the country as a whole exceeds 70% - what is prepared by multi-operative equipment. To date, we have more than 3 thousand units in the industry - more than 500 harvesters, more than 400 forwarders, more than a thousand assortment locomotives, loading and transport vehicles are also more than a thousand, said Sergey Uldinovich.

He noted that about 10% of the park needs to be updated annually. “By the end of the year, about 40 harvesters, about 30 forwarders, 40 sorting locomotives and other equipment, small equipment, which will participate in the logging process, have been contracted,” the minister added.
