Belarus introduces new building codes for solid municipal waste disposal facilities

New building codes for solid municipal waste disposal facilities have been introduced in Belarus. This was reported in the press service of RUE "Stroitekhnorm", writes sb.by.

Amendment No. 1 CH 3.02.16-2025 approved by the decree of the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of July 16, 2026 and enters into force on September 21.

The scope of application of requirements to systems of collection, purification and discharge of filtrate, as well as to collection of landfill gas is specified: it is established that these requirements are applied in the development of project documentation for the landfills under construction and are not applied in the expansion of existing landfills.

The innovations will eliminate the ambiguous application of the requirements of CH 3.02.16-2025 in the expansion of existing landfills, to differentiate the requirements applied in the construction of new and expansion of existing solid municipal waste disposal facilities.

A uniform approach in the development and consideration of project documentation was also provided, design issues were settled when expanding existing landfills, taking into account the features of such facilities.
