In Novosibirsk, potato prices decreased amid harvest
In the Novosibirsk region in September 2026, prices for potatoes and other vegetables from the so-called "borsch set" decreased significantly
Following potatoes, prices for carrots decreased by 19.4%, cabbage by 18.9%, onions by 17.2% and beets by 8.8%. Seasonal cheaper vegetables are associated with harvesting and the arrival of fresh produce on the market.
The decline in prices comes amid lower yields of some crops. According to the regional Ministry of agriculture, the yield of potatoes in the Novosibirsk region was 34 centners per hectare lower than a year earlier. The farms of the region collected 48 thousand tons of potatoes with an average yield of 192 centners per hectare.
In general, food products fell by 0.5% in September. At the same time, tomatoes rose by 7.1% and bananas by 6.4%. Non-food products decreased in price by 0.2%, while services rose by 0.6%.
Against the backdrop of a seasonal decline in the cost of vegetables, the total inflation in the Novosibirsk region since the beginning of 2026 has reached 7.02%.
Earlier, “MK in Novosibirsk” reported that fines for the sale of alcohol to children can grow to 900 thousand rubles.
